Privacy policy
Oarly is a river crossing puzzle game. This page explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. There is no account to create, nothing is sold in the app, and we do not sell your personal information.
Information that stays on your phone
Your level progress, coins, stars, daily check-in streak and settings are stored only on your device. They are never sent to us — there is no Oarly server to send them to. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data, deletes them. Oarly asks for no permission other than internet access, which it needs only to load ads.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Oarly is free and supported by ads shown through Google AdMob. There are no banner ads. The app shows optional rewarded videos that you choose to watch, and an occasional full-screen ad after a level is finished. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers,
- approximate location derived from your IP address — the app does not request or use your phone's precise location, and holds no location permission,
- information about how you interact with ads, and basic device and app information.
Ad content is capped at a general-audience rating, and the app requests non-personalised ads where consent has not been given.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google's consent management platform. You can change your choice at any time in Oarly under Settings > Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Android settings, under Settings > Privacy > Ads.
Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
No analytics
The app and this website use no analytics service of any kind. There is no Google Analytics, no Firebase and no event logging in the app. We do not track which screens you open, which levels you play, or how you got here. Aggregate AdMob earnings reporting is the only signal we see, and it does not identify anyone.
This website
This site is static. It sets no cookies, loads no tracking scripts and uses no third-party fonts or CDNs — the typefaces are served from this domain. The playable puzzle at the top of the home page runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. If a video is embedded on the page, nothing is requested from YouTube until you press play; at that point YouTube's own privacy policy applies to the playback. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, whose servers keep standard request logs for security and abuse prevention.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Oarly shows an evening reminder to collect your daily check-in. Reminders are scheduled on your phone, need no internet connection and involve no server or push account. You can turn them off in Oarly's Settings, or in Android's notification settings.
Children
Oarly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, contact us below.
Data security and retention
Data sent to Google's advertising services travels over encrypted connections and is kept according to Google's policies. Data on your device stays there until you delete it or uninstall the app. Because we hold none of it, there is nothing for us to retain, breach or hand over.
Your choices
- Change ad consent in Settings > Ad privacy choices (shown where it applies).
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
- Turn reminders off in Settings.
- Delete all local data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date at the top of it.
